Here’s another newcomer – though not exactly new – to look out for during September’s New York fashion week. Paris-based fashion house Givenchy has decided to leave Paris for what it is next season, and instead present its spring/summer 2016 collection in NYC during New York Fashion Week.
The move of the brand – which made headlines recently for featuring Donatella Versace in its fall/winter ads – will not be a permanent one. Nor does it have anything to do with Givenchy’s increasing popularity within American celebrity circles. Instead, the French brand will open its new store on Madison Avenue by the end of August, which will be inaugurated through the fashion show and an after-party, which are scheduled for September 11th. In a statement given to WWD, Tisci says, “It’s a very delicate day for America, and so the show is going to be a celebration of family and love.”
Furthermore, the Italian Creative Director of the French Luxury brand, will rely on performance artist and long-time friend Marina Abramović , to handle the upcoming runway show’s art direction.
