If you thought your cute canine or furry roommate was the star of your house, figure this — from earning 2 million pounds from TV adverts to a social network following that would put your years on Instagram to shame, celebrity pets are taking over like never before.
And the latest addition to the celebrity pet bandwagon is pop diva Lady Gaga’s French bulldog, Miss Asia Kinney, who just bagged a campaign by Coach — the American luxury accessories company made the grouchy-faced adorable pup the face of their latest campaign. The website shows the pup flaunting a pretty pearl necklace, perched on a model’s lap with a luxe bag sitting beside her.
However, this is not the first time a celeb pet has grabbed the spotlight. The snazziest example of four-legged fashion royalty has to be three-year-old Choupette, the pet cat of Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel’s creative director.
The snow-white, blue-eyed Birman boasts of a huge fan following — almost 49,000 on twitter and over 64,000 on Instagram. “I am a spoiled #Chanel pussy whose maids pamper her every need,” her description reads.
And what’s in her fashion kitty? Apart from a legendary owner, Choupette has starred in TV commercials for Japanese beauty brand Shu Uemura and a German car brand. Plus, she has been on the cover of the fashion magazine, Lucky. Want to get in touch with her? Contact her agent – that’s right, the cat has an agent for media inquiries and bookings!
It’s not just celebs who’re grabbing magazine covers and endorsements. Now, their pets are in the spotlight too!
Meet Miley Cyrus’s adorable piglet, Bubba Sue. Last month, she was on the cover of Lucky with Miley, in a snout-perfect pose. Another addition to the family is the kitty, Shanti Om.
Meredith and Olivia:
“Happy. Furry. Confused. Hungry. At the same time,” is how one of American singer Taylor Swift’s cats, Meredith, describes herself on Twitter, where she has over 12,000 fans. Swift has another cat, Olivia, whose pictures with Swift have over a million Instagram likes.
The British model’s pet bunny, Cecil, has his own Instagram account and more than 2,000 followers. He also has a fashion portfolio that boasts of a modeling stint for the fashion label, Mulberry.
